Riana Primary School is a Kinder to Year 6 school located on the Northwest Coast of Tasmania, ten minutes inland from the township of Penguin. The school was established in 1839 and has a tradition of providing quality education for students in Years K to 6. Riana Primary is set in bushland and because of our natural environment students participate in a Bush Classroom and Kitchen Garden program weekly. 

Riana Primary integrates inquiry learning into our outdoor learning programs though authentic, hands-on investigations with a focus on learning in nature. Our Kinder to Grade 2 students participate in a weekly Water Awareness program in our school’s own indoor pool. In 2023 Riana Primary was in the top ten schools in Tasmania for growth in NAPLAN and in 2024 was the highest ranked government primary school for NAPLAN, on the Northwest Coast. Riana Primary School has a co-located Early Learning Centre for 3-5 year olds.
